Musashi no Ken
While Moscow rushed to lift restrictions, the dojo remained closed due to its location within a school. The months without kendo and naginata had been long, and members were eager to return.
To lift spirits and remind everyone what kendo was all about, we shared across the community Musashi no Ken (The Sword of Musashi) — a popular 1980s anime and manga about kendo. Though somewhat childlike at first, it soon draws you in and contains a wealth of useful information and explanations of techniques and training, clearly created by kendo practitioners. We were encouraged to watch it every kendo-baka.

Tales of the Warriors of Old
A new initiative was launched in our Telegram channel: a daily series of reflections based on Yamamoto Tsunetomo's Hagakure ("Hidden in the Leaves"). Everybody was invited to contemplate each saying and share their thoughts, understanding and experiences. Much of what is embedded in the ritual, patterns and techniques of budo is inseparable from bushido and the culture of the bushi.

We're Open Again!
Training resumed at a new address from 1 September 2020. The new home was at the Small Sports Arena of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex.
The pandemic had not gone away. Members were urged to take precautions included: monitoring health and skipping training if unwell; maintaining good hygiene and using sanitisers; and wearing masks at all times. We recomended to read two articles by George sensei on safety precautions and training approaches — particularly on wearing masks under men.
