April 2022
Iaijutsu Taikai '22
We performed at the Iaijutsu Taikai, demonstrating Tendo-ryu naginatajutsu and the shikake-oji from atarashi naginata. The event brought together nearly 150 participants from 38 organisations, practising 45 traditional schools. We also shared insights into the history and techniques of Tendo-ryu, one of the two main classical naginata schools from which atarashi naginata originated.
Masterclass in Arkhangelsk
We assisted Daria Litunenko in delivering a naginata masterclass in Arkhangelsk over 16–17 April. Basic movements and fundamentals were covered, and we look forward to welcoming new participants from this northern city at future seminars. Thanks to the Kitokaze club for their excellent organisation.

58th Moscow Open Kendo Tournament
Our women's team, competing as a chamloo (mixed) team with members from Nizhny Novgorod, secured bronze at the 58th Moscow Open. Our men's team reached the quarter-finals, losing to the eventual gold medallists. A strong performance for our first full club team entry. Congratulations to all who competed and graded.
June 2022
Open Keiko with Takenouchi Shohei san
After the cancellation of the March seminar, we were delighted to host an open keiko with Takenouchi Shohei on 13 June. The seven-hour session was attended by over 50 kenshi from across Russia. Shohei demonstrated a wide range of waza and shared the aiki of authentic Japanese kendo, which we had missed since the start of the pandemic. We are grateful to Shohei san for his enthusiasm and support in making this event happen.
Dojo Relocation
We moved our dojo to a new venue at Talalikhina Street 33, the Campus, effective from 8 June. The move was prompted by financial difficulties faced by our landlord. We thank our members for their understanding and assistance with the relocation.
